wine characteristics

Raboso is a wine with very ancient origins, to which our family is very attached and to which many harvest memories are also linked. This Raboso is a wine suitable for succulent dishes and typical Venetian cuisine. It is a wine for enthusiasts, with a high acidity that only aging can soften. Sight: deep ruby red color with a slight garnet hue. Nose: scent reminiscent of wild berries, blackberry, plum jam with very intense notes of cherry. Taste: powerful, typically acidic, full-bodied wine with great flavor.

Classic red vinification for 90% while the remaining 10% of the grapes are dried on wooden crates for about 60 days. The blended wine makes a passage of about 1 year in oak barrels and 6 months in barriques. The Raboso to obtain the Controlled Denomination of Origin "PIAVE" must be marketed after at least 2 years from November 1 of the vintage year.

We recommend serving this wine at a temperature of about 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.

Something more

RABOSO: The "rabid" grape variety of the Veneto.

Raboso is a wine with very ancient origins, whose name many historians claim derives from its namesake tributary of the Piave River. This vine has been present in Italy since before the advent of Rome; Pliny the Elder mentioned it in his Naturalis Historia and described it as a wine "blacker than pitch." Today it is referred to as being "Rabbioso," given by its marked acidity. The Raboso Piave is an indigenous vine whose cultivation extends along the banks of the river Piave, it was for a long time considered a "rustic" and resistant vine so much so that it easily overcame the spread of phylloxera at the end of the nineteenth century; it ripens late and its harvest, in our organic vineyards, takes place in the period between the end of October and November: the result is an excellent aging wine.
