wine characteristics
During the 1980s-90s, a winemaker in the Terre del Piave wanted to add, in the spring, to the Raboso, produced in the previous autumn, a portion of wine made from the same carefully selected grapes and left to dry for a few months on trellises in properly ventilated environments. The wine obtained with the addition of the passito had gained body, structure and personality, losing its sometimes aggressive edginess to acquire roundness and elegance. Malanotte del Piave Docg is the ultimate expression of Raboso del Piave and its terroir: an austere, full-bodied and very fragrant wine.
In classic red, about 80 percent of the grapes (around 20 percent) are raisined for about 90 days. The blended wine rests for about 24 months in oak barrels and barriques, followed by aging for at least 6 months in the bottle. MALANOTTE DOCG must be marketed after at least 36 months from November 1 of the vintage year.
We recommend serving this wine at a temperature of about 16 to 18 degrees Celsius.

Something more
"The Barbarossa," an expression of a territory and a family.
This wine is dedicated to its author, Settimo, who is precisely portrayed on the label. Instinctive and outspoken, they converse sincerely aware that organic is the modern take on the centuries-old Veneto farming experience.
Experience that, like wine, needs breath and time to reveal its strength.
A strong spirit that of Settimo, a lover of the land that generated it and from which is born a fruit rich in experience and time, Malanotte del Piave DOCG. "Il Barbarossa," a fictional name derived from the traditional red beard of the family's men, is a wine that comes from the native Raboso vine, which our family is particularly fond of, a symbol of tradition and peasant culture. Its grapes are hand-picked at the end of October and conclude the winery's harvest.
